A Study in Curves: A Bespoke Daniel George Kitchen Renovation in Scotland

A renovation of a period property in Scotland has resulted in a kitchen that perfectly balances classical architecture with contemporary craftsmanship. Designed and manufactured by Daniel George Kitchens, this project is a celebration of sweeping curves, refined materials and meticulous attention to detail.

The journey began when the clients discovered the Kensington kitchen on social media and the Daniel George website. Intrigued, they travelled to see it in person.

Placed proudly at the entrance of the showroom, the Kensington’s sweeping curves made an instant impression. The homeowners’ reaction was simple: “This is my kitchen.”

To recreate this look in their own period home, the design team incorporated:

  • A bespoke single curved door larder

  • Curved door units framing each end of the range run

  • Flowing cabinetry that echoed the home’s original architectural details

The result is a kitchen that feels entirely at home within its grand surroundings.

A Layout That Works

The renovation involved completely reworking the layout.

We:

  • Repositioned appliances

  • Improved sightlines

  • Created clearer working zones

  • Strengthened the connection between island, ovens and larder

A prep sink was added beneath the arched window, giving the homeowners a light-filled space for food preparation. It’s now one of the most enjoyed features of the kitchen.

The large island, with an integrated hob, sits at the centre of everything — practical, social and easy to use.
